Plattling Eurocup

Three days in England after coming home from Uganda and it was off to Munich Airport to collect Katya and Masha for our 3 week Eurocup roadtrip.

We got to the site of the first event on Wednesday afternoon. The spot is called Plattling (Germany) which is usually an awesome nice deep retentive hole but unfortunately was shallow and flushy for the event due to low water…not so good for my poor carbon kayak 😉

In the 3 days leading up to the event we spent our time getting used to the hole, chatting and catching up with friends we’d not seen for a while and enjoying life on the camp next to the hole.

The hole was quite challenging with it being so shallow and flushy yet was possible to throw down sweet runs if you were fast and assertive and Maxime from france even managed to throw some sick KA-Y’s on the wave part of the hole.

Competition time came around at the weekend along with some beautiful sunny weather prelims went very good for me getting 2nd place behind Peter Csonka, unfortunately my lack of time in a hole over the last 10 months showed in the Semi’s as I managed to flush on both my runs ending 15th, poor result showing I need to work harder for Bratislava eventual winner was Peter Csonka. In the ladies Katya and Masha had been doing good in practice but again due to the holes flushy nature of the hole they ended up 12th for Katya and 14th for Masha, Nina Halasova took 1st.

So not great results but nice time anyways and now we know what we need to work on!

Bring on Bratislava,
