On the 26/27th October we gathered once again on the Dart river for the Rivers Source event. It’s a nice event toward the end of the season for whitewater paddlers and freestylers to enjoy everything the Dart has to offer with various coaching clinics going on during the day and evening entertainment on the Saturday.
We came to run freestyle clinics on the Loop section. It’s a pretty easy section in a creekboat but in a playboat you can really squeeze a lot out of it. It’s full of little waves, eddy lines, splat rocks and holes that are ideal to learn the basics on and also perfect fundamental skills on for the more advanced freestylers.
The Sunday we were gifted higher levels which actually turned the section into a really fun play run for all abilities with a particularly good but very feisty hole on the first step of Triple falls and a wave you could do air blunts on the last step of the falls! Everyone went to take their beating in the hole and try their hand at looping, with some good success’s amidst the trashings.
The weekend was very enjoyable for us & hopefully for our students too. It was nice to kayak in clean water in such a beautiful setting for a change. The event brings together the paddling community of the area and further afield to come and enjoy the Dart river at it’s finest!
Come join us next year!
